As a small boy in the Czech Republic, I used to help my mother in her studio, but the mystery of the potter's wheel seemed far beyond any boy's ability.
In 1994 I decided to sit behind my mother's wheel once again and try the art of throwing for myself.
I tried, and completely fell for this craft and have spent the past nineteen years practising as a potter. I began with low fired earthenware and advanced to stoneware fired to temperatures up to 1300°C. In last few years I have been working with porcelain which is a material I had always dreamt of using.
I love to work with both porcelain and stoneware. They each require different approaches and this certainly is a challenge I like to take on.
